Bicycle Fork Suitable With Your Need
By : Maxeka Lumuda
Some people might not know and familiar with their own bicycle and very often neglect the maintenance activity needed for their bicycle. One of the most basic and important part is the bicycle fork. Bicycle fork is the part of the bicycle that clutches the front wheel and roles as the significant part for the rider to steer and balance the bike. It usually consists of two parts, called dropout, to hold the front wheel axle, two blades which is connected in the part named fork crown, and a steering tube allowing the rider to steer the bicycle.
The bicycle fork usually has a rake that places the dropout forward the steering axis. It is produced by curving the blade forward, or by placing the dropout forward the centerline of the blade. The curving in the bicycle fork can be used to absorb the shocking. But it is different with the bicycle fork that is using the suspension. It must be straight to allow the suspension working. The size of the bicycle fork is very depended to the size and the use of the wheel and the bike itself. For example, the length of the fork is usually measured to be parallel with the steer tube, while the width of the fork is measured collinear with the wheel axle. Most modern adult bicycles have the size of 100 mm fork in their bike, but it will be different with the mountain bike, of course. The length of the blade has to be appropriated with the intention of the frame designer, whether both to accommodate the desired wheel and provide the appropriate steering geometry.
It will be so much different with the use in the mountain bike, which use the suspension bicycle fork. The land texture in the mountainous area needs a special design for the bicycle fork with special suspension. It is usually completed with the shock absorber, which consists of upper and lower telescoping tubes. This shock absorber usually consists of two parts including a spring and a damper. It may be implemented by using a steel or titanium coil. The choice of the material of spring has a very significant effect to the fork, describing the use and the role of that specific wheel and fork. The bicycle fork can be established using various materials, such as aluminum, steel, carbon fiber, titanium, magnesium, and various combinations of those materials. Such knowledge is important to know by the rider, to do the maintenance and the modification that is suitable with the need and the type of the bike.
