The History of Huffy Bike

As we all know there are a lot of bicycles in the market all over the world. What you may not know is the history of the bicycles. You may not realize that Huffy bike is one of the top names in the business of bicycles. The huffy has been in the market for quite some time from the year 1892, where George P. Huffy oversees the manufacturing of the first Davis Sewing Machine Company bicycles in Daytona, Ohio.

The Huffy Bike Company was built at 1949, until then George P. Huffy (the founder) manufactured and sold bicycles under the “Dayton” brand. At around 1913, he introduced the Cushion Frame Roadster that provides comfort with unique shock-absorbing construction. Special Roadster, the Racer, the LaFrance, and the Streamliner are popular models of Huffy bike. In 1949, Huffy developed the Huffy Convertible, a children’s bicycle with rear training wheels and footsteps. This huffy bike revolutionized the children’s market and it was the first Huffy bike under Huffy name. Huffy bike had a manufacturing and assembly facility in Celina, Ohio. At 1955, Huffy made another breakthrough; He provides a radio built into the tank, equipped with antenna and battery pack on the rear carrier, this was appealing for the music lovers. Huffy also made another trend at the year 1969; he designed a 20″-wheel bicycle that had a “banana” seat and high-rise handlebars. Huffy strikes the #1 selling bike brand in the United States market. This proves that Huffy bike is the most famous and trend.

Huffy bikes were ridden by the United States Olympic team, but not only that, the team gets awarded with one bronze, two silver and two gold medals. This is maybe the highest achievement of the Huffy bike. Huffy represents the United Sates in the 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympics. Huffy never stops to amaze us, at 1995, he introduces its first bicycle licenses featuring cartoon characters, and they are not just cartoon character, they are Warner Brother’s. Until today Huffy bike licensing character such as Dora the Explorer, Thomas the Tank Engine and Disney Princesses. At the year 1997 Huffy brings BMX mainstream, not only that, three years later Huffy scores over 2.2 million sales of micro scooters (Huffy also manufactures and produces scooters).

At 2006, Huffy Bike celebrates 30 years as #1 selling bike brand in the United States, and sells its 100 millionth bicycle. We just have to wait and see what more will Huffy presents to us, the bicycles and the scooters. Maybe there will be a surprise, especially for bike users all around the world.

Bikes are not just a mean of transportation, but a way to show or express you. Children also need attention in choosing bicycles for them. These factors are seen by Huffy in manufacturing bikes with such brilliant ideas about bikes, so the bike has more value to the owner.
